<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an excrement decomposition material which can increase decomposition amount of excrement and has lengthened duration of usage, and to provide an excrement decomposition method. <P>SOLUTION: The excrement decomposition material uses a microorganism-implanted woody material, wherein the woody material is woody waste containing a tree or bark produced at a chipping process of paper pulp production and the woody waste has a bulk density of 0.1 to 0.9 g/cm<SP POS="POST">3</SP>.
