<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a thermally expandable microcapsule, the method controlling flocculation, and having superior low temperature foaming properties. <P>SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the thermally expandable microcapsule has: a step of suspending an oily substance containing a polymerizable monomer, a volatile liquid and a polymerization initiator to an aqueous dispersion medium; and a step of polymerizing the polymerizable monomer. The polymerizable monomer contains an acrylic acid. In the step of polymerizing the polymerizable monomer, the temperature T of polymerizing the polymerizable monomer is lowered by 4-15°C in comparison with a half life temperature T<SB POS="POST">1/2</SB>of ten hours of the polymerization initiator. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
