摘要 <p>The energy storage comprises: a flywheel (2) that rotates, in a space (3) under negative pressure as absolute pressure (0.01 mbar), around a central axis (4); a magnetic bearing (5, 6) of the flywheel; and an electrical machine, which stands in active connection with the flywheel and is connected to a power supply. The active connection as magnetic coupling of the flywheel is formed with a device for accelerating and breaking the flywheel to store and discharge energy. The magnetic coupling is formed in an electrical machine. The energy storage comprises: a flywheel (2) that rotates, in a space (3) under negative pressure as absolute pressure (0.01 mbar), around a central axis (4); a magnetic bearing (5, 6) of the flywheel; and an electrical machine, which stands in active connection with the flywheel and is connected to a power supply. The active connection as magnetic coupling of the flywheel is formed with a device for accelerating and braking the flywheel to store and discharge energy. The magnetic coupling is formed in an electrical machine, to which a rotor (8) of the electrical machine is rotatably connected with the flywheel and a stator (9) of the electrical machine is stationarily formed as device for accelerating and braking the flywheel. The stator: is centrally arranged; is formed by the rotor; and is partially surrounded by the flywheel. The electrical machine is connected to the power supply by an inverter. The magnetic coupling is formed between the flywheel and a shaft as the device for accelerating and braking the flywheel. The shaft is connected to the power supply over speed-controllable gears with respect to its transmitted power. The electrical machine is formed as a synchronous machine that is directly coupled with the power supply. The gears comprise a power branch, which runs over a controllable hydrodynamic circuit. The flywheel is formed in an area of its external circumference made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic, and has a weight of 50000 kg with a medium diameter of more than 1.5 m. A rotational axis of the flywheel is formed with a deviation (less than 5[deg] ) from a direction of gravity and formed perpendicular to the direction of the gravity. The magnetic bearing comprises passive magnetic bearings and active magnetic bearings. An independent claim is included for a method for operating an energy storage.</p>
