<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seal assembly for a cannula capable of introducing various kinds of surgical instruments, keeping the completeness of the air in the inner region of a lumen, further easily attaining closure of a passage of the cannula when removing the instruments. <P>SOLUTION: A surgical access assembly for use with a surgical access device includes a housing defining a central longitudinal axis, an elongate access member extending from the housing, an instrument seal disposed within the housing and being adapted to establish a substantial fluid tight seal about the instrument, and a zero closure valve. The housing and the access member have a longitudinal passage dimensioned to permit passage of a surgical instrument. The zero closure valve is mounted relative to the housing and adapted to assume an open condition upon passage of the surgical instrument and a substantially closed position in the absence of the instrument. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
