<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately perform range measurement even when a plurality of optical flying type distance image generation apparatuses simultaneously exist in the same photographing space when generating a distance image of the photographing space by an optical flying type distance image generation apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: While fixing a light emission (ON) period of modulation light applied from a light source and a charge accumulation period in each unit accumulation part of a charge accumulation part, light emission and accumulation are controlled so that a period length is changed in each modulation period. The period length is changed by adding additional time different in each period to a predetermined fixed modulation period Ts.
