<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a positive electrode material using lithium vanadium phosphate (LVP) as an active material configured to improve various battery characteristics, such as cycle characteristics, preservation characteristics and rate characteristics, while ensuring charge-discharge reaction of high voltage and high capacity; and a lithium ion secondary battery. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode material is obtained by allowing lithium vanadium phosphate particles as a positive electrode active material to be coated with metal fluoride having a thickness of 1-60 nm. A method of manufacturing a positive electrode material that lithium vanadium phosphate as a positive electrode active material is coated with metal fluoride having a thickness of 1-60 nm includes the steps of: obtaining an aqueous suspension containing lithium vanadium phosphate, water-soluble metal salt and fluoride; obtaining powder having hydrate of the metal fluoride deposited on the lithium vanadium phosphate particles by subjecting the aqueous suspension to heat treatment at 70-90°C; and firing the powder at 100-500°C in an inert gas atmosphere. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
