<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that although the present technique reduces the total printing time, taking an amount of toner and a fixable temperature into consideration in order to shorten printing time, it does not take a fixing speed into consideration. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises: means for calculating an amount of toner for a print target page; means for calculating the estimated temperature of a fixing unit when the print target page is printed; means for calculating a fixing speed assigned for the print target page, from the values of the calculated estimated temperature of the fixing unit and the calculated amount of toner; means for calculating, for each calculated fixing speed, the estimated time at which printing for the print target page is finished; means for calculating, for each calculated fixing speed, the estimated temperature of the fixing unit when the estimated time at which printing for the print target page is finished; means for calculating a job flow using each calculating means; means for selecting a job flow that has the shortest total printing time, from the results of the job flow calculations; means for printing in a printing-speed priority print mode according to the selected job flow. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
