<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separator contributing to long term stabilization of a solid polymer fuel cell due to suppression of elution of a metal ion even if the solid polymer fuel cell is operated in a state exposed under a strong acid condition. <P>SOLUTION: The separator includes: a substrate formed of metallic material; and a thin film layer consisting of a conductive metal oxide formed on the substrate.
