The battery arrangement (3) has a traction battery (5), which is arranged below a vehicle floor (1) and is protected against a side crash with lateral deformation elements (7). The deformation elements are arranged between the lateral outer door sill (9) and the traction battery and releases a transverse displacement of the traction battery in case of side crash. The battery arrangement has an adjusting unit for a smooth course of the transverse displacement. The traction battery is lowered against the vehicle floor around a lifting path with the adjusting unit in case of side crash.
