Each yarn feeding unit Figs. 1, 2 and 4, not shown, for feeding a spandex yarn to a multifeed knitting machine comprises a support (3) which receives the spindles (4, 5) on which stepped pulleys (6, 8) for feeding the yarn are mounted. In addition the support (3) also mounts the spindle (11) of a drive roller (12) on which rests the supply bobbin (18) to be driven thereby. The bobbin is supported by a pinion (16) mounted on an arm (15) pivotably supported on the support (3). The spindle (4, 5, 11) have at their other ends pulleys (7, 9, 13) connected by a belt drive (14). The stepped pulley (8) has at its inner end a cylindrical portion (10) which receives a belt drive (22) which is common to each unit and serves to drive the pulleys from a common drive source Fig. 5 (not shown). The yarn is fed from the bobbin by the latter being rotated by the roller (12) and extends round the stepped pulleys on its way to the needles of the machine. |
