There is described a process for preparing a polymer composition comprising hydrotalcites intercalated withactive molecules prepared by co-precipitation in a single reaction step. The co-precipitated hydrotalcite is dispersed into the bulk polymer trough the conventional incorporation methods. The polymer composition is suitable for use in the production of articles of manufacture such as films, rigid or semi-rigid containers and the like, in particular functional active packagings capable of increasing the shelf life of food products. Another process described here is the incorporation of the co-precipitated hydrotalcite into an adhesive polymer precursor to be coated on films, rigid or semi rigid containers. The obtained objects contain the active hydrotalcite only on the surfaceand nevertheless are capable of increasing the shelf life of food products. |
