Disclosed are a high-capacity battery pack which can be used in apparatuses for supplying high-capacity power such as electrical vehicles, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) devices, power supplies for smart grids, and the like, and a method for charging same. The battery pack comprises: a case having a pair of guide grooves facing each other at a predetermined distance, the case provided with a receiving space; a plurality of trays fitted into the guide grooves; a battery cell assembly provided in each of the trays; a cell charger for charging the battery cell assembly and provided in each of the trays to correspond one-to-one to the battery cell assembly; a cell controller, provided in each of the trays to correspond one-to-one to the battery cell assembly, for controlling the cell charger; and a temperature sensor, provided in each of the trays to correspond one-to-one to the battery cell assembly, for detecting a temperature of the battery cell assembly. Each of the trays includes a first connection member for connecting an anode of the battery cell assembly and a second connection member spaced apart from the first connection member at a predetermined distance to connect a cathode of the battery cell assembly. The battery cell assembly includes a plurality of unit cells which are connected in parallel to the first connection member and the second connection member. |
