<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new plant-derived antitumor component. <P>SOLUTION: A tumor cell growth inhibitor including a Tamarix gallica extract as an active ingredient is provided, based on a new finding that the extract from Tamarix gallica as a halophilous plant of arid land origin has tumor cell growth inhibitory activity.
