The sealing device (1) has an annular sealing unit (9) peripherally contacting a drive shaft (7) of the fuel pump (2) in sections. The sealing equipment separates an inner chamber (5) of the fuel pump from an outer chamber (8). A liquid barrier (17) is provided in form of a sealant film peripherally enclosing the drive shaft. The liquid barrier is arranged in the outer chamber of the fuel pump. The liquid barrier peripherally wets the annular sealing unit completely during the rotation of the drive shaft. The annular sealing unit is designed as a shaft seal with a sealing lip (13,15).
