<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printed matter with a latent image which is applied on an important document for preventing forging and duplicating. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The printed matter has the image of the latent image in which a first latent image pattern and a second latent image pattern which can be visually recognized by making the observation condition different are embedded in a first pattern using a first image line, a second element and a third element on a substrate. The first pattern is formed using a material containing no infrared absorbing dye. The first latent image pattern is formed using material which is equal color to the first pattern in a diffusion light region and contains an infrared absorbing dye. The second latent image pattern is formed using material which changes a color difference ΔE with the second latent image pattern by a specified value by changing the angle of observation from a diffusion light region to a specular reflection light region to an illumination light source at a definite position. The first pattern, the first latent image pattern and the second latent image pattern are formed by changing the area ratios of a first image line, a second element and a third element forming them within a specified range or partly changing the width of the image lines.
