摘要 In conventional fuel cells, each of which is provided with a membrane electrode structure having a frame on the circumference thereof, and two separators that sandwich the membrane electrode structure therebetween, contact surface pressure between the membrane electrode structure and the separators is reduced and contact resistance is increased when the separators are brought into contact with both the membrane electrode structure and the frame. Disclosed is a fuel cell (FC), which is provided with a membrane electrode structure (2) having a frame (1), two separators (3, 3) that sandwich the membrane electrode structure therebetween, and gas seals (Gs) between the end portion of the frame (1) and the end portions of respective separators (3), and which has diffuser sections (Da, Dc) for distributing a reacting gas to between the frame (1) and respective separators (3). In the diffuser section (Dc) on the cathode side, the frame (1) is provided with a protruding section (5) in contact with the separator (3), and in the diffuser section (Da) on the anode side, the frame (1) and the separator (3) are disposed by being spaced apart from each other, thereby excellently maintaining contact surface pressure between the membrane electrode structure (2) and the separators (3), and preventing contact resistance from being increased.
