An electric brush motor 110 for driving a fan of a cooling system comprises a rotor on a shaft 32 rotatably mounted in a bowl-shaped housing. The housing comprises a base (fig 3, 52), a lateral wall (fig 3, 54) and arms 56 that are integrally formed with the housing and support the motor. The bowl-shaped hosing can be injection moulded from a plastics or polymeric material. Arm 56 can have a tubular cross section to provide an air guiding channel in fluid connection with the housing. An air inlet channel to cool the motor can be in at least one arm and an outlet channel can be in another arm or in the bowl-shaped housing. A brush (fig 33, 66) and commutator can be arranged at the base of the housing, with a brush cage (fig 3, 64) fixed to the housing. A rear cover (fig 5, 80) of polymeric material can cover the housing which can include a metal sheet (fig 3, 42) as a yoke ring to fix magnets (fig 3, 40), allow flux circulation and shield radio frequency emission (RFI). The cooling system may be for a vehicle engine and comprise a liquid/air heat exchanger.
|
