LED-Lamp with variable intensity

The lamp has multiple LEDs (2) arranged on a circuit board (4) and emitting white light with same spectral characteristic in an outside space of the lamp. A control unit (6) controls the LEDs, and optionally displaces the lamp into different operating modes depending on a predetermined dimming value such that one of the LEDs is switched-on in each operating mode while the remaining LEDs are switched-off. A detecting unit (8) detects a current value for sub-groups of the LEDs, where the current value represents a duty cycle of each sub-group summed over a certain time period. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an LED lamp.
