<p>The device has a conveyor (14) for moving a workpiece (10) in a longitudinal direction (12) during a coating process. An applicator (16) is arranged for coating the workpiece with a coating die. The applicator is connected with a moving device (34) for moving in the longitudinal direction of the workpiece. The moving device exhibits a controller (40) for to-and-fro movement of the applicator, where the controller is designed as mechanical and/or electronic controller. The controller exhibits a hydraulic and/or a pneumatic cylinder (38), and the applicator is arranged on a carriage guide (42).
