<p>To achieve more flexible and various setting of EA load applied on a seat belt (4) depending on the situation of an emergency by more effectively actuating a second EA mechanism (16) in addition to a first EA mechanism (15), the second EA mechanism (16) is set to the operative state by not actuating a driving member (21). In the event of an emergency, a locking base (11) is prevented from rotating and a spool (9) and an EA plate supporting member (18) rotate together in the belt withdrawing direction (²). An EA plate operating member (19) deforms an energy absorbing plate (17) so as to conduct the energy absorption by the second EA mechanism (16). By the actuation of the driving member (21), the EA plate supporting member (18) is prevented from rotating and the EA plate operating member (19) is laid, thereby setting the second EA mechanism (16) to the inoperative state. In this state, the energy absorbing plate (17) is not deformed even with the rotation of the spool (9) in the direction (²), thus not conducting the energy absorption.</p> |
