Regenerative chamber (2) with a defined cross section, comprises many slit sheets, above which transition layers are arranged. A checker (6) is attached on the transition layers. A movable flow barrier (30) is provided above the slit sheets, which is introduced from outside into the regenerative chamber, and with which the cross section of the regenerative chamber can be reduced.
