PURPOSE: A digital image processing device and a control method thereof are provided to set photographing preparation by performing face recognition before photographing after the completion of the photographing preparation settings. CONSTITUTION: A digital image processing unit recognizes a face of a person from an inputted first input image(S401). The device sets photographing preparation for the first input image according to the input of a photographing preparation signal and fixes the photographing preparation settings(S510,S530-S545). The device recognizes the face of the person from a second input image newly inputted before the input of a photographing start signal(S402).
