A harness for holding a patient on a stretcher while allowing certain lateral freedom of movement comprises a retaining strap 9, which is secured around the head end of the stretcher 1, and to which are attached two straps 3, 4, so placed that they can be passed over the shoulders and then crossed over the chest. Extensions of these straps 5, 6 are passed under the foot end of the stretcher to form a closed loop. The centre portion 9 of the retaining strap and the upper portions 3a, 4a, of the shoulder straps are preferably lined with a foam padding material and the latter are stiffened in an arcuate shape to avoid excessive pressure on the shoulders. |
