<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for data recording for a vehicle, which records a situation before the vehicle encounters some emergent situation, while reducing the data size and processing time. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This apparatus for data recording for a vehicle, equipped with at least a storage and a control unit, records information on the vehicle's driving situations into the storage. The apparatus calculates a target route of the vehicle, predicts vehicle's behaviors to occur on the target route, or vehicle driving support controls to be operated, calculated by the target route calculation means, and determines target storing information to be stored in the storage among information on the vehicle's driving situations corresponding to the predicted vehicle's behaviors to occur and driving support controls to be operarted.
