A motion picture projector comprises a shiftable transmission connecting a film advancing mechanism with a unidirectional motor, manually operable means to start the motor and control the shiftable transmission, and means to change the speed of film advance to either of two different speeds, interlocking means being provided to prevent speed change when the transmission is in a neutral position. In the cine projector shown in Fig 1, a circular shutter 12 and film feed means 11 are driven by means of a belt 29 coupled to a driven pulley 22. Pulley 22 is movable by means of pivoted lever 19 so that it is coupled to pulley 18 or by a belt 25 for forward or backwards drive of pulley 22j pulley 18 being connected to a unidirectional motor. In an intermediate non operated position, pulley 22, 18 are uncoupled. Belt 29 may engage one of two different diameter grooves in pulley 22 for forward drive (corresponding to different film speeds) and is controlled by means of a manually operated forked lever system 37, 36. A lever 19 is connected to lever 55 which is in turn connected by over centre spring toggle system to a lever 51. The lever 19 and drive motor are both operated by means of a five positioned manually operated lever 37 connected by gears 42,43 to a switch means 45 of the electric motor and by cam 48 (Fig 7) connected to gear 43, and by pivotted cam follower lever 46 to lever 51 of the lever 19 control means. The five positions of lever 37, switch 45 and cam 48 are "off", "forward", "forward with lamp", "reverse", "reverse with lamp"; the position "with lamp" having no adjusting effects on lever 19. To lock the film speed adjusting lever 36 during reverse drive a pivoted lever 67, controlled by cam 48 through lever 46, is provided. In the "reverse" or "off" position on end of lever 67 engages slot 72 or 73 of lever 36 and prevents lateral movement when as in the "forward" positions the end of the lever 67 is in slot 71 and lever 36 is free to move. |
