A cell cover 6, Fig. 1 (not shown), is sealed around a terminal post 2 by a resilient packing 1 having a flange 3, 4 at each end, the lower flange 4 preferably being larger than the upper flange 3. A post connector 5 is welded or soldered to the post 2 to secure the compressed soft rubber packing 1 in position. The plate group 8 is supported by a bifurcated device 9 during the assembly (Fig. 2, not shown), pressure being applied by a ram 10 to the post connector 5. |
