<p>A method of operating a combustion system includes at least the following steps: removing ashes from a combustion boiler, compacting the ashes, pulverizing the ashes, and feeding at least a part of the ashes into the combustion boiler, wherein the hardness of the ashes is deliberately set during the steps of removing the ashes or compacting the ashes.
