PURPOSE: A personal information protecting device and a method thereof are provided to protect personal information displayed on protective content while an external device displays content. CONSTITUTION: If protective content is displayed while displaying content, an external device transmits display information of the displayed content to a portable terminal and temporally stops a screen(105). The portable terminal displays the same content as the external device's through the display information of the content received from the external device(108). If work for the protective content is completed, the portable terminal transmits work completion data and display information of the next content to the external device(110). The external device and the portable terminal logs in the same user account.
