The device (10) has a radar-receiving unit (12) connected with a distance-effective protective system (16) over a radar signal processing unit (14). The system is connected with an igniting-and-protection unit (18). A protection circuit (20) that evaluates a radar doppler signal is switched parallel to the unit (14) and the system, where the circuit is switched between the receiving unit and the unit (18). An output (22) of the circuit and an output (24) of the system are interconnected with inputs (26, 28) of an AND-gate, and an output of the AND-gate is attached to the unit (18).
