A patch for assessing heat acclimatisation comprises a detectable marker for determining acclimatisation status. The marker is a chemical marker or a change in pH or conductivity that is measured in sweat or other bodily fluids. A measurable change such as determined by a colorimetric change in an indicator can show that the body has reached a state of heat acclimatisation. The chemical marker may be chloride, sodium or zinc ions, lactic acid or urea.
