<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide fine inorganic particles which can give transparent compositions excellent in transparency, capable of having high refractive indexes, and having excellent optical characteristics, is excellent in dispersibility and has a high refractive index, to provide a resin composition using the same, to provide a molded article, film or coating material comprising the resin composition. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Fine inorganic particles are characterized in that the fine inorganic particles (A) give a transparent composition (D), when the surfaces of the fine inorganic particles (A) are modified with an organic substance (B) and then dispersed in a transparent polymer (C), wherein the fine inorganic particles (A) comprise an inorganic substance selected from titanium, zirconium, zinc, and aluminum and have a particle diameter of 1 to 50 nm; the organic substance (B) is a polymer (c) whose main skeleton is formed by a living radical polymerization of a modifying molecule (a) having a mol. wt. of <1,000 and an initiator (b) introduced on the surfaces of the fine inorganic particles as a starting point; and the transparent polymer (C) is an optical transparent polymer.
