Embodiments relate to a vector processing system (100) for replicating a single element of a source vector into a plurality of elements of a result vector. The processing system comprises a replicating subsystem (102) configured to receive a replicate instruction comprising a source vector register identifier configured to identify a source vector register (108'). The replicating subsystem (102) is configured to retrieve a dynamically generated index value from an index register (104). The replicating subsystem (102) is further configured to retrieve a source vector by means of the source vector register identifier. By means of the retrieved dynamically generated index value, the replicating subsystem (102) replicates a single element of the source vector to a plurality of elements of a result vector.
