摘要 Non-porous Pd/Ag alloy is electrodeposited from an ammoniacal nitrate solution of Pd and Ag on to e.g. a metal coated porous plastic sheet or a porous metal matrix. The percentages of Pd and Ag in the alloy are determined by the current density used. Specified alloys contain 46% Pd 54% Ag, 71% Pd 29% Ag, and 32% Pd 68% Ag. Pd/Ag layers, 5-100m thick, are electrodeposited from solutions containing 0.5-150 gs./l. of the metals at pH 7.5-11 and 35-90 DEG C. with a current density of 1-100 mA/cm2, and a voltage of 0.5-7 using Pt, Ag/Pd or stainless steel anodes. In Example 1, 32% Pd 68% Ag is electrodeposited on a silverized porous polyethylene sheet, the sheet having been prepared by treating polyethylene with KOH soln., sensitising with an aqueous SnCl2 solution containing HCl, and silvering by immersion in an ammoniacal AgNo3-KOH solution to which an aqueous reducing solution prepared from sugar, HNO3 and C2H5OH is added. In Example 2 Pd/Ag is electrodeposited on a sintered porous Ni matrix. Pd/Ag may also be electrodeposited on polystyrene, "Teflon" (Registered Trade Mark), polyvinyl chloride, polyvinylidene chloride, polyvinyl acetate or polyethylene which is coated with Cu, Ni, Cd, Pt, Au or Pb and also may be electrodeposited on a porous matrix of Ag, Au, Ni, Cu, Zr, RR, Ir, Ru or Cd.
