PURPOSE: An adaptive traffic manager for wireless applications is provided to enable a service provider to continuously offer services of a bandwidth even though the bandwidth is reduced. CONSTITUTION: Switch assembly(102) receives a first signal from a wired link. The switch assembly outputs a second signal through a wireless link. The switch assembly stores the configuration of current adaptive traffic manager. The switch assembly automatically converts a current traffic manager configuration and a modulation and coding method when the switch assembly receives instruction from a computing module in response to the detection of an ACM(Adaptive Coding and Modulation) event.
