An olefin polymer is stabilized with (i) an aliphatic sulphur compound + (ii) a compound containing at least two aromatic residues linked to one another directly or by an intermediate group and containing in each aromatic residue one hydroxyl group in o- or p-position to the direct linkage or the intermediate group, at least one of the aforesaid hydroxyl groups having been esterified with an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid. In examples, the stabilizers used are: (ii) bis-(2-hydroxy-naphthyl)-methane-monostearic acid ester, bis-(2-hydroxy-3 - t - butyl - 5 - isobornyl) - phenylmethane-monostearic acid ester, bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propane-monostearic acid ester, the reaction product of 1 mol. bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-propane + 2 mols. stearic acid chloride, 4,41-dihydroxy - diphenyl - monostearic acid ester, b -dinaphthol-monostearic acid ester and bis-(2 - hydroxy - 3 - methyl - 5 - octylphenyl)-methane-mono-[caproic, caprylic, capric, lauric, palmitic and stearic] acid esters; and (i) thiodipropionic acid lauryl ester and distearyl disulphide. |
