NOVOLAC EPOXY RESIN COMPOSITION AS FLAME RETARDANT SUPPLEMENT AND METHOD OF PRODUCING THE SAME

PURPOSE: A novolac epoxy resin is provided to have excellent impact resistance and weatherability for improving flame retardancy of engineering plastic. CONSTITUTION: A resin is represented by chemical formula 1. A manufacturing method of the resin comprises a step of mixing a novolac epoxy resin, a urethane prepolymer, and a catalyst to obtain the resin represented by the chemical formula 1. The urethane prepolymer contains 1-12 weight% of NCO-based isocyanate based on the urethane prepolymer. The mixing is conducted at 140-180 deg. C for 2-5 hours. The flame retardant resin composition includes the resin represented by the chemical formula 1.
