PURPOSE: A multi cage type ballast water filtering apparatus having a filter airtightness-improved structure is provided to conveniently replace an O-ring just by separating the upper covering board. CONSTITUTION: A filtering unit of a multi cage type ballast water filtering apparatus having a filter airtightness-improved structure comprises a filter(20) and an automatic washing part. The upper side of the filter is coupled with the top surface of a body, and the lower side of the filter to a partition wall(140) of the body. A sheet directly contacting the body so as to be settled on the body is attached on the upper surface and the lower end of the filter. On a contact surface of the sheet and the body, an O-ring is positioned in order to prevent unfiltered ballast water from being discharged through a gap between the filter and the contact surface of the body.
