<p num="1"><br/>The invention relates to a road toll collection system <br/>having a vehicle device for the vehicle-autonomous <br/>determination of a road toll for a vehicle within a use <br/>billing area, data which is required for determining <br/>the road toll being transmitted, when required, from an <br/>operator control center to the vehicle device by means <br/>of a communications device, and the vehicle device <br/>determining part tolls which are incurred continuously <br/>for route sections traveled on and determining the <br/>total toll for a journey by summing the individual part <br/>tolls.<br/><br/>According to the invention, when predefined criteria <br/>are fulfilled, the vehicle device transmits the total <br/>toll determined up to this time via the communications <br/>device to the operator control center for billing.<br/>
