PURPOSE: A washing machine and a method of detecting the supply of liquid detergent are provided to prevent water waste by preventing washing operation from being performed without liquid detergent by informing of whether to supply the liquid detergent. CONSTITUTION: A washing machine is composed of a receiving tank(130), an inlet box(160), and a supply pipe(134). The receiving tank comprises a detergent amount detecting unit(140). The detergent amount detecting unit senses the height of the liquid detergent. The detergent amount detecting unit comprises first and second detectors(141,145). The inlet box is electrically connected to the detergent amount detecting unit by the liquid detergent supplied. The inlet box comprises a detergent supply detecting unit. The supply pipe is formed between the receiving tank and the inlet box. |
