A chuck-mounting comprises a carrier 20 to be mounted to extend transversely of a machine spindle 6, a radially-movable slide 24 on the carrier, a chuck base 38 mounted on the slide, a friction disc 42 on the base rotatable about an axis parallel to the spindle, a turntable 64 on the disc for holding the chuck and manually operable means 92 for locking the chuck in an angularly-adjusted position. The slide 24 is locked in adjusted position by a screw 34. The disc 42 can be angularly adjusted by a screw 62. The turntable 64 is adjustable on the pivot 66 against a scale 96 and is locked by a bevelled ring 76 expanded by a wedge 78 operated by the spring 84 releasable by a cam 94 on the handle 92. The chuck 8 is attached to the turntable by screws 100. Two such chucks are used to support a crank-shaft in a grinding machine. The screw 62 is used for fine adjustments in association with a dial gauge.</p> |
