PURPOSE: A compact and operability-enhancing multi cage type ballast water filtering apparatus is provided to prevent in advance damage caused by colliding of automatic washing part elements moving up and down for backwashing of a filter in each filtering unit. CONSTITUTION: A filtering unit of a compact and operability-enhancing multi cage type ballast water filtering apparatus comprises a filter(20) and an automatic washing part. The automatic washing part includes a driver(310), a suction part (320), and a discharging part(330). The discharging part includes a discharging pipe(331) which serves as a channel through which foreign substance is discharged is positioned in the lower part of the body so that the spatial efficiency inside a ship can be increased and a simple structure can be formed by being connected with the filter in each filtering unit.
