<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element by which it is difficult to distort an electrode, even with a constitution for sealing a light emitting region with an adhesive layer. <P>SOLUTION: A light emitting element 1 is provided with a light emitting region ELF that is formed by sequentially laminating a first electrode 3, a light emitting layer 111 and a second electrode 4 on a substrate 2, and that can emit light. The light emitting element 1 comprises: a sealing body 124 arranged in the light emitting region ELF on a side opposite to the substrate 2 for sealing the light emitting region ELF; a viscosity layer 122 laminated between the light emitting region ELF and the sealing body 124; and an adhesive layer 123 made of a photocurable or thermosetting adhesive, covering a side face of the light emitting region ELF extending in a lamination direction of the light emitting region ELF, and adhering the light emitting region ELF and the sealing body 124.
