<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve search performance. <P>SOLUTION: An image sensor 16 repeatedly outputs an image representing a scene picked up by an imaging plane. A CPU 26 performs a plurality of collation processes corresponding to a plurality of attitudes that the image sensor 16 possibly takes in a rotation direction of an axis orthogonal to the imaging plane, and searches the image output from the image sensor 16 for a specific object image. Further, the CPU 26 performs a different processing operation according to a search result, and repeatedly records the image output from the image sensor 16 in parallel with the processing by the image sensor 16.
