<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image inspection device and an image forming apparatus configured to read a latent image which is read by detecting reflected infrared rays as a visible image for inspecting the image during image inspection, and to decolor the visible image to restore the latent image after image inspection. <P>SOLUTION: The image inspection device and image forming apparatus include: an acquiring means for reading an image formed on an image carrying medium by using an image forming material which contains an infrared absorbent having an optical absorption peak in an infrared region and a decolorant composition having an optical absorption peak in a visible region in a color-developed state and decolored by physical treatment or chemical treatment, and acquiring inspection image information; and a decoloring means which leaves the infrared absorbent on the image carrying medium and decolors the decolorant composition on the image carrying medium by physical treatment or chemical treatment. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
