<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information exchange system with realistic sense by which users passing by each other can exchange opinions about a television program. <P>SOLUTION: An information exchange system includes: a television receiver 1; and a portable information terminal 2 performing short-range communication with the television receiver 1 and the other portable information terminal 3. The television receiver 1 acquires program information including an identifier and a program name of a designated program, from a broadcast wave, and transmits the program information to the portable information terminal 2 present in a range of the short-range communication. The portable information terminal 2 acquires the program information from the television receiver 1, and accepts an input of a comment in association with the acquired program information.
