The present invention relates to an optical element comprising: at least one at least partial coating comprising an alignment medium on at least a portion of at least one exterior surface of the at least one optical element; and at least one at least partial coating comprising an anisotropic material and at least one dichroic material on at least a portion of the at least one at least partial coating comprising the alignment medium. The invention is also directed to methods of making the optical element.
