<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a veneer lathe for reducing the minimum diameter of a stump. <P>SOLUTION: The veneer lathe includes first and second supporting rolls 1, 2, and a counter roll 3. The rolls 1, 2, 3 are parallel to a rotating axis of a log 4 and have lengths at least substantially equal to the length of the log 4 to be peeled. The rolls 1, 2, 3 have shafts 1", 2", 3" having a plurality of discs 1', 2', 3' disposed separated from each other. The discs 1', 2', 3' have widths less than the distance between each other in the longitudinal direction of the log 4, have diameters larger than the diameters of the corresponding shafts 1", 2", 3", and are coaxial with the corresponding shafts 1", 2", 3". The discs 2', 3' are thereby not aligned with the disc 1' in the longitudinal direction of the log 4, and the discs 2', 3' and the disc 1' overlap each other in the radial direction of the discs 2', 3'. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
