摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight for a liquid crystal display in which emission light from LED light sources is efficiently incident to a light guide plate and which emits light with high luminance. <P>SOLUTION: In the backlight for a liquid crystal display, a plurality of LED light sources mounted on a planar substrate are used. The LED light sources are formed of combinations of ultraviolet or violet LEDs and fluorescent substances excited by the emission light of the LEDs to emit visible light, and are arranged linearly in at least one row or more. A transparent resin sealing layer is formed on the planar substrate on which chips are mounted so that the transparent resin sealing layer surrounds the chips. A resin sealing layer containing the fluorescent substances is formed outside the transparent resin sealing layer. Reflection means such as reflectors or reflection layers are arranged along on both sides of the rows of the LED light sources. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
