<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the cost of a drive motor for use in an iris device. <P>SOLUTION: The iris device includes an iris drive motor 6 for driving an iris member forming an iris aperture for passing incident light. The iris drive motor 6 includes a stator unit 37, a rotor unit 38 and a yoke 39 for the accommodation thereof. The rotor unit 38 provides a permanent magnet 51 in a manner to rotate in integration therewith. A rotation center shaft J of the rotor unit 38 is set to pass a center portion of gravity of the permanent magnet 51.
