<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an impact printer in which printing pressure of an impact print head can be set to appropriate one in accordance with thickness of a recording medium conveyed on a platen. <P>SOLUTION: The impact printer includes: a carriage drive 30 which is supported by a carriage guide shaft 22; a main carriage 31 on which the impact printing head 13 is mounted, and which moves up and down to follow the thickness of the recording medium while the main carriage 31 is supported by the carriage drive 30; and a sub carriage 32 which is laid between the carriage guide shaft 22 and a guide member 23, and guides the main carriage 31 in a perpendicular direction. A printing pressure setting part 96 setting the printing pressure of the impact print head 13 detects movement of the main carriage 31 by using a movement detection mechanism 26, and sets the printing pressure based on the detection result. Since the thickness of the recording medium is reflected in the movement of the main carriage 31, the printing pressure is set to the appropriate one in accordance with the thickness of the recording medium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
